Police in Grayson County provided more details in a shooting Friday (11/10) afternoon near Leitchfield.
According to the Grayson County Sheriff’s Department, the incident happened at a residence along Maple Drive. It was determined that Barry Wilkerson had been shot twice, by his mother, Paula Sims.
After questioning Sims and Wilkerson’s wife, Sasha who was at the residence at the time of the shooting, police determined Sims shot her son in an attempt to stop him from attempting suicide.
After being shot, Barry Wilkerson left the area and traveled to a residence on Shaw Station Road before driving himself to Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center. He was later airlifted to University of Louisville Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries to his leg, shoulder and hand.
Police have made no arrests in the case, but the evidence will be presented to the Grayson County Commonwealth Attorney’s Office for possible submission to the Grand Jury.
