A line of strong storms Saturday (11/18) afternoon ahead of cold front was responsible for damaged caused by tornadoes in Meade and Ohio Counties.
The National Weather Service determined on Sunday (11/19) that EF-1 tornado touched down at the Breckinridge/ Meade County line about three miles north of Irvington. The twister pushed a tobacco barn 15 feet causing several walls to be collapsed and the roof torn off with debris scattered about a half mile. The tornado skipped East-North East along a wooded area damaging trees then overturned and destroyed a mobile home and garage along Fackler Road. Other damage was noted to out buildings and homes along Kentucky 261 before it lifted. The tornado had winds between 100 to 105 mph and caused a damage path about two miles long and fifty yards wide within two minutes. One person suffered minor injuries from the storm around 4:30 pm Saturday.
Survey crews confirmed an EF-1 tornado with winds of 95 to 100 mph touched down about one half mile West-South West of Beaver Dam along US 62 and Goshen Church Road at 3:32 pm CST. The storm damaged a home on Mine Fork Road. One resident suffered a minor head injury in their shed as the storm moved through. The most intense damage was in the Hill and Mulberry Street area where numerous trees, homes, and outbuildings were damaged. The tornado lifted near about one half mile East-South East of Beaver Dam.
Weather survey crews also found straight line wind damage along Highway 44 in Bullitt County from Shepherdsville to Mount Washington.
Numerous reports of power outages were reported across the region as the winds through day gusted to near 45 to mph outside of the storms.
