
Unemployment rates fell in 88 Kentucky counties, stayed the same in ten and rose in 22 counties between October 2016 and October 2017, according to the Kentucky Education and Workforce Development Cabinet.
Woodford County recorded the lowest jobless rate in the Commonwealth at 2.9 percent. Magoffin County recorded the state’s highest unemployment rate at 12.7 percent. The Lincoln Trail area which includes Meade, Breckinridge, Hardin, Grayson, Larue and Nelson counties had a average of 4.1 percent for October.
Employment statistics undergo sharp fluctuations due to seasonal events such as weather changes, harvests, holidays and school openings and closings.
