A man is dead after a domestic dispute in Grayson County Friday (12/29) morning.
According to Kentucky State Police, a domestic dispute occurred between 21 year-old Kaitlyn Houchin and her boyfriend, 31 year-old Stephen Waninger. Both lived at the residence in the 4300 block of Grayson Springs Road near Clarkson with Houchin’s father 46 year-old Billy Joe Houchin.
Around 1 am CST, police were called to the residence for a report of a domestic disturbance and a shooting. When police arrived at the scene, they found Waninger dead from a gun shot wound. According to the investigation, police determined that Kaitlyn Houchin and Waninger became involved in a domestic altercation when Billy Joe Houchin attempted to intervene. Stephen Waninger and Billy Joe Houchin then got involved in a serious physical altercation. After a lengthy struggle between the two, Billy Joe Houchin fatally shot Wanninger. Stephen Wanninger was later pronounced deceased at the residence by the Grayson County Coroners Office. Billy Joe Houchin refused treatment for his injuries.
The case remains under investigation by Kentucky State Police and will be presented upon completion to the Grayson County Commonwealth Attorneys Office for review. No charges will be filed at this time.
