
Members of Meade County Fiscal Court discussed the possibility returning to work on crafting a nuisance ordinance during their regular meeting Tuesday (4/10) night.
The topic has been a divisive subject for several years between current and previous magistrates and county residents. the topic resurfaced on the agenda in an effort to set a date to bring magistrates back to the table after time of review and reflection on previous conversations and to work toward crafting a new draft ordinance which will agreeable to all involved. After a brief conversation, the court decided to set a date and time for a work session specifically for the nuisance ordinance during their next regular meeting.
In other business, the court approved a request by County Clerk Judy Jordan to expenses related to the county primary election at a cost $14,500 which includes payment of the precinct workers. Jordan also received the court’s approval to place the E-slate and E-Scan voting machines in each polling location around the county. Fiscal Court approved naming a new private lane named Layla Lane on Kentucky 1638 between Tammy Lane and Close Lane. The roadway will not be in the county maintenance system. They also approved the road name change of Prairie View Lane to Timothy Lane in the Vine Grove zip code.
The court heard and approved a resolution updating the EMS rates to come into line with the basic Medicare rates. Judge Executive Gerry Lynn said that the current rates had not been adjusted for several years and the biggest increases noted was the billable rate for mileage per run. He said the current rate is $11.02 and would increase to $15 which would provide an additional $300,000 annually for the county.
County leaders heard and approved the second reading of the Solid Waste franchise agreement amendment. The court also voted to have a short special called meeting on Tuesday, April 17 at 7:30 pm to discuss possible action to purchase a new tractor for the county road department followed by a work session on the 2018-19 proposed county budget. Judge Executive Lynn asked for the court’s approval to move the May regular meeting to the Payneville Fire Department on Tuesday, May 8 at 7 pm.
