
A multi-county pursuit Sunday (2/16) afternoon that began in Breckinridge County ended in Harrison County, Indiana with an officer-involved shooting that left one suspect in the fleeing vehicle dead and another hospitalized.
According to Breckinridge County Sheriff’s Department, the incident began with a possible rolling domestic dispute in the Harned area, then proceeded into the Meade County with an initial pursuit terminated due to unsafe conditions. A second pursuit began near the Meade-Breckinridge County line with speeds at 100 miles an hour and a police cruiser struck.
The pursuit continued through Brandenburg and into Harrison County, Indiana along Highway 135. Corydon City Police and the Harrison County Sheriff’s Department deployed “spike strips”, which slowed and eventually stopped the vehicle near the Corydon city limits. As officers approached, an occupant of the vehicle fired on officers, who returned fire. Anthony said an armed female inside the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene, while an armed male occupant was airlifted to University of Louisville Hospital.
Names were not immediately available as of Sunday evening. The fleeing vehicle was believed to have been stolen.
The incident is under investigation by the Harrison County Sheriff’s Department.
