Adjusted schedules are becoming the new normal as many government and business offices try to serve the public but are not allowing in person contact.
Meade County Clerk Judy Jordan issued new adjustments to her office operations to protect her staff and the public during response to the Corona Virus-19 pandemic. Jordan released a statement Tuesday (3/17) afternoon to comply withe directives of Governor Andy Beshear to close her office to the public effective at 4:30 pm Tuesday (3/17) until further notice. The closure includes in person Saturday hours. Jordan said her staff will continue to support all of the regular services by telephone, mail, or online transactions. Her staff will continue to prepare for the 2020 Primary Election.
Jordan said residents have several ways to renew vehicle registrations. First, online renewal is available for most vehicles at drive.ky.gov. Second, registration renewals may be mailed to the Meade County Clerk’s office, with a copy of your registration receipt, proff of insurance, and payment. Third, renewals can be made over the phone at (270) 422-2152.
Vehicle transfers will be suspended until further notice. Individuals that have purchased a vehicle from out of state will need to retain their documents until the office can reopen. Individuals selling a Kentucky-titled vehicle to anther person will also have to wait until the office reopens to the public.
Marriage licenses will be issued by appointment only. Please call the Clerk’s office to schedule an appointment.
Passports will be done by appointment only and as long as the US Department of State allows for it.
Document recording may be submitted by mail.
Voters may continue to register to vote or update their address by submitting a new registration form online at govoteky.com until 4 pm on April 20. Registrations by mail must be postmarked by April 20th.
Voters who qualify to vote absentee by mail may call the Clerk’s office to request an application.
Notary oath and bonding are suspended until further notice.
