Local fire departments raised over $100,000 for the annual WHAS Crusade for Children.
The annual event was delayed from the normal first weekend in June due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Organizers along with firefighters worked to use other methods than just roadblocks. In Meade County, efforts collected in the reported fire department as follows:
Ekron Fire Department: $63,238.30
Flaherty Fire Department: $17,746.55
Meade County Fire Department: $7,767.24
Payneville Fire Department: $11,461.29
Overall the Crusade of Children raised over $4.8 million which will help special needs children across the region.
