The Crusade for Children was held over the weekend raising $5.1 million dollars during the two day radio and telethon in it’s 68th year.
Locally, area fire departments collected through roadblocks and fundraisers for the annual event. In Meade County, $80,299.36 were announced from local fire departments on Sunday morning. The department totals were:
Flaherty Fire Department: $32,866.37
Ekron Fire Department: $25,000.00
Payneville Fire Department: $12,264.63
Meade County Fire Department: $ 6,361.40
Muldraugh Fire Department: $3,806.96
All of the money raised will be used for the needs of children in the area, with interest from the money to pay any expenses not covered by the donations.
