An investigation continues a fire that gutted an apartment building in Irvington on Wednesday evening.
Irvington Fire Chief Jeremy Houghlin said that the State Fire Marshal’s office is continuing the investigation of the fire. Occupants are not still cleared to go back into the building, but can contact Irvington Police Chief Jason Ballman on the possibility of going back to retrieve the valuables. Mayor Charles Douglas Lucas said that donations of personal hygiene and non-perishable food items, gift cards and monetary donations can be made to help the nearly 30 people displaced by the fire. He said clothing donations have left the Irvington Mission Center full, with any additional taken to Irvington Baptist Church.
Several fire departments from Breckinridge and Meade County responded to the fire around 6:40 PM Wednesday evening. No injuries and one animal fatality was reported
