
Members of Meade County Fiscal Court worked through a shorter business agenda during their regular meeting Tuesday (9/9) evening.
E911 Shift Supervisor Julien Borchert was recognized for his worth ethic, dedication, and achievements along with him being named the “Supervisor of the Year” last week during the Kentucky Emergency Services Conference which were presented by Kentucky APCO and Kentucky NENA. Judge Executive Troy Kok presented Borchert with a challenge coin for his accomplishments. E911 Director Jeremy Miller said the state award was the first for the county.
During the public session, Meade County History Museum representative Steve Straney asked Fiscal Court to provide additional funding $12,000 for the non profit group to assist with the increase of expenses. He said that beginning on October 1st the rent would increase about $2,000 a month for which has prompted his visit to recent meetings with county leaders. The group is asking for a total of $32,000. Straney said the group is working to raise funds by having community events and other donation avenues to help with expenses. Judge Executive Troy Kok said that the court would look at what they could do to help and would put the issue on the October meeting agenda.
The court approved a updated fee schedule for Planning and Zoning. They also approved 4 rezoning requests presented by the Planning Commission. They approved the the Lincoln Trail Health Department tax rate which remains the same on real and personal property along with motor vehicles. Magistrates voted to authorize Judge Executive Kok to sign paper work related to a deed for the Meade County Water District Flaherty Pump Station.
The court approved the Meade County Sheriff calendar year 2024 audit settlement and local settlement as presented. They also approved beginning the process of purchasing a new ambulance and a box swap for the next upcoming updates which will take about 3 years to gain delivery of in 2027. Magistrates voted to approved the lowest bid on construction of a new animal shelter building by Prodigy Construction in a estimated amount of $2.5 million. The court also voted to create a new Animal Control Officer position. The position will be funded by some staffing adjustments in the Judge Executive’s office.
