Magistrates worked through a short but lengthy business session during the regular meeting of Meade County Fiscal Court Tuesday (9/8) night.
The court heard from representatives of the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet District 4 Office related who spoke about Rural Secondary Road Funds for the fiscal year. Meade County received $1,013,516 in funds that is derived from the state gas tax which are apportioned equally by one fifth between all counties in the state, one fifth apportioned among the counties based on rural population; one fifth apportioned among the counties based on rural road miles; and two fifths apportioned among the counties based on rural land area. Routine maintenance funding is $1510,100 and $217,084 in flex funds. The projects included in the funding is 2.141 miles of resurfacing of Highway 710 from Highway 428 to Kennedy Road at a cost of $256,332. Another $30,000 for base failure repairs along Highway 710 between Highways 428 and 313.
Magistrates accepted a petition of Creek View Court into the county road system. They also approved the Conservation District annual report and financial report. They also approved a request from the County Clerk for general election fees. The court approved the audit of the Sheriff’s settlement of the 2024 taxes.
The court approved the appointments of Elizabeth Arnold and Amy Berry to the Library Board. They also approved Susan Dolman, David Kovatch, Edwin Bohannon, and Vance Snider to the Planning and Zoning Commission. Marion Whelan, Vanessa Egart, Brett Gardner, Lisa Gibbs, and Shannon Frazier were appointed to terms on the Planning and Zoning Code Enforcement Board.
Magistrates approved the second reading of a ordinance amendment to the Otter Creek Park parking Program. Beginning Wednesday (9/9) full enforcement of parking permits will be throughout Otter Creek Park. Parking permits can be purchased online.
Court voted to remove the magistrate pay form the table resulting in 1st District Magistrate Tom Goddard to recommend that the issue to be reviewed in January 2029. The court acknowledged a proclamation September as a National Service Dog Month. Magistrates voted to move forward on partnership with Fort Knox IGSA HVAC agreement. The agreement would allow the county to solicit bids for HVAC contractors for services for the facilities at Fort Knox.
At the end of the meeting, magistrates entered into a two hour closed session for the purpose of discussions related to proposed litigation against or on behalf of the public agency and discussions between a public agency and a representative of a business entity and discussions concerning a specific proposal, if open discussions would jeopardize the siting, retention, expansion, or upgrading of the business.
