Voters across Kentucky will have more than just candidates to consider when they head to the polls next month.
Voters will decide in November whether to ban governors from issuing pardons or commuting sentences in the weeks surrounding a gubernatorial election. The measure comes after controversial last-minute pardons issued by former governor Matt Bevin.
The amendment would block pardons beginning 60 days before a governor’s election and continuing until the governor is sworn in. Voters will decide the issue on November 3.
