Secondary Instructional Supervisor Kellianne Wilson presented an overview of the 2015 test data to the Meade County School Board at their regular monthly meeting Tuesday (10/13) evening. Each school is rated in one of three categories. Three of the 8 schools in the district was rated Distinguished, 4 was rated Proficient and only 1 Needs Improvement. The district overall fell short by only 0.3 of a point from receiving a Distinguished rating. Wilson said while there is always room for improvement, the school leaders are always looking for ways to improve with what is best for the students in mind.
In other business, the board voted to purchase a new minivan and a 1-ton work truck on state contract bid. The District asked local dealers to bid on these two vehicles. Tony Brown Chevrolet submitted a bid of $28,320 for the work truck but did not submit a bid on the minivan since Chevrolet no longer makes a minivan. Ray’s Ford-Chrysler-Jeep submitted a bid of $24,988 for the truck and a bid of $22,732 for the minivan. The bids were awarded to Ray’s Ford-Chrysler-Jeep for both vehicles. The School District has received a $20,000 grant from the Crusade for Children toward the purchase of a minivan to be used with the Community Base Program for the students with special needs, therefore, the minivan will only cost the School District $2,732.
