A couple of accidents in the past week sent three people to the hospital. According to the Meade County Sheriff’s Department
the first accident happened around 7:45 am on Friday morning (10/16) at the intersection of Kentucky 313 and Woodland Road. A 1988 Chevrolet pickup truck driven by 24 year-old David Adams of Flaherty was traveling behind a 2004 Dodge Intrepid driven by 37 year-old Julie Howard of Vine Grove, which slowed down for a school bus to make a turn onto Woodland Road.
Adams stated that he took his eyes from the road because something hit his foot and looked back up to see Howard’s car slowing down and was not able to stop in time. Adams and Howard were both taken to Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown by Meade County EMS. The Flaherty Fire Department also assisted at the scene.
Another accident happened on Monday (10/19) around 2 pm near Midway, when a 2009 Pontiac G5 driven by 65 year-old Marietta Miller of Irvington was traveling west on Highway 79 at the intersection of Kentucky 144. A 2012 Jeep driven by 53 year-old Patricia Johnson of Guston pulled out into the path of Miller. Miller was treated at the scene and taken to Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown by Meade County EMS. The Ekron Fire Department also assisted at the scene. Johnson was not injured in the accident.
