An elderly man has been found alive inside his wrecked car, nearly five full days after he had been last seen.
Wilbur Eugene Harrod, 77, was found Wednesday after someone noticed a red car in an embankment near Rutland.
Family members reported Harrod missing Saturday, saying they last saw him Friday afternoon leaving a friend’s home in Sadieville. The Harrison County Sheriff Tony Hampton says Harrod said he had been in the car for several days.
Hampton says the fact Harrod was spotted was a miracle, because he likely couldn’t have escaped the embankment.
Harrod was taken to the hospital. He was conscious and talking when rescue crews got to him, though he was dehydrated. Harrod was listed in critical condition Wednesday night.
