
Brandenburg City Council heard the reading of a Pancreatic Cancer Day Proclamation at their regular monthly meeting Monday evening. The council approved the proclamation of Friday, November 13, 2015, as Pancreatic Cancer Day in the City of Brandenburg.
In public session, Ronnie Barger of the Meade County Public Library Board voiced a concern about the maintenance of the city owned property adjacent to the library property. The property was donated to the city for a park and walking trail but it has not yet been developed. Mayor Ronnie Joiner asked Barger if the Library Board would be interested in acquiring the property. Barger agreed to take the suggestion back to the board for consideration.
The council approved a $140,000 principal payment on an $800,000 construction loan at Meade County Bank with the remaining $660,000 being refinanced at 1.98% interest.
City Clerk Molly Janes announced her retirement effective February 29, 2016 after 30 years of service. A thirteen year city employee, Amy Hayes, will be promoted to fill the position.
Public Work Supervisor T. J. Hughes reported about 80% of the Christmas by the River displays have been installed in the park and the rest is expected to be done by the end of the week. Light up Christmas by the River will be at dark on Saturday, November 28, following a variety of activities in the park throughout the afternoon.
The council approved a one time salary adjustment of $500 for all full and part-time employees and $100 for the custodian.
A business license was approved for Strokin Aces, LLC at 204 Fireside Drive for an internet based screen printing sales.
