Muldraugh City Council discussed several items at their regular monthly meeting Monday evening.
Fire Chief Danny Dresel advised the council the Insurance Service Office will hold an inspection on January 5, 2016 and there will be several items that will need to be purchased in the next few months to stay in compliance with the ISO rating. Dresel estimated the cost of these items could be between $5,000 and $7,000. One high ticket item will be a generator for the fire truck at a cost of nearly $4,000.
Public Work Supervisor Anthony Lee advised the council the city had received a complaint from a customer that got missed a year and a half ago when the sewer system was refurbished on Sunset Street. Lee attempted to contact the contractor but found they had sold the business. The new owner came and hooked up the sewer to the property at no cost to the city.
The council discussed the leasing or selling of the property at 702 South Dixie Highway. Councilman Corey Dresel said he had advertised the property for lease on Craig’s List and had one person interested in the building for a restaurant. Mayor Joseph Noon advised the council he had been approached by an individual concerning opening a liquor and smoke shop in the building. After much discussion, the council decided to table a decision until the January 11, 2016 regular monthly meeting.
After an extensive discussion concerning the condition of the service trucks of both the roads and streets department and the water and sewer department, the council unanimously voted to authorize Mayor Noon to secure a loan of up to $10,000 to purchase a truck to use as a salt and plow truck for the roads and streets department. No decision was made concerning a truck for the water and sewer department after several months of discussion concerning the issue.
