Muldraugh City Council received a $1,000 check from Muldraugh Community Action Group, to go toward the expenses of the Muldraugh City Festival, at their regular monthly meeting Monday evening.
Councilman Cory Dresel presented to the council for discussion and possible approval a contract from Great American Show of Madisonville to provide rides, music, concessions and games for the Muldraugh City Festival on September 29 through October 1, 2016. A $1,000 down payment is due with the signing of the contract and an addition $4,000 to be paid upon arrival after the rides are setup. After some discussion, the council unanimously approved the contract.
Fire Chief Danny Dresel advised the council it was time to replace some turn-out gear for the fire department. After much discussion, the council granted Chief Dresel the authority to secure a loan of up to $35,000 at 3% interest through the Kentucky Fire Commission for equipment for the department. This loan will be paid for out of the state aid money the fire department receives each year. The equipment to be purchased includes 6 sets of turn-out gear, a jaws of life kit and a generator for the ladder truck.
The council discussed the possibility of installing a light at the corner of Eminence Court and South Main Street. Public Works Supervision Anthony Lee advised there was no electric service at that location. The council asked Lee to get an estimate of the costs to build an electrical service and report back to the council.
The council heard the second reading of Ordinance 346 amending the pay for council members from $25 per month to $25 per meeting effective January 1, 2017. The vote was 3 to 2 in favor with Council members Russell Cowins, Sheila Cowins and Cory Dresel voting yes and Robert Mattingly and Curtis Kelley voting no. Councilman Donnie Basham was absent.
