A reward is being offered for information that leads to an arrest in connection with the death of an African immigrant who was hit by a stray bullet as he slept.
The employer of 35 year-old Zemenfes Tekle is offering the $1,000 reward. Tekle was killed April 12 at his home on the corner of Cecil and Greenwood avenues.
Tekle’s boss, Alem Nuguse, described him as a hard-worker who was supporting family members back in Ethiopia, including an 8-month-old son he never had a chance to meet.
Tekle was sleeping when someone opened fire on his house. At least five bullets came through the wall, one striking Tekle in the head. Police say he was not the intended target.
Tekle’s body will be taken back to Ethiopia for the funeral.
