
Rescue workers pulled the body of a drowned fisherman from the Barren River Sunday evening.
Authorities say a 35-year-old Vehab Cuturic drowned at the Green Castle Lock of Barren River and his body was recovered at 5:20 p.m.
The Warren County Sheriff’s Department says the man was with 2 other fisherman. They were trying to cross the river by walking on the sandbar when the victim was pulled under by a current.
According to the Warren County Sheriff’s Department, one of the fisherman tried to go in after the man, but couldn’t get to him.
The Barren County Dive Team and the Warren County Technical Rescue Team assisted in the search for the body.
The Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife said that the water temperature was only 65-68 degrees.
