A road rage collision landed one person in jail and injured four others.
According Franklin Police Department say, they were called to an accident with injuries on Highway 1008 Industrial Bypass at 7:13 p.m. Tuesday. They were told it was a road rage incident that involved baseball bats.
When they got to the scene, 41-year-old Robert J. Tines had already run away. Police were told he had been driving a red Chevy truck south in the northbound lane, when he collided with a dark red Chevy car driven by 23-year-old Sydney McMillin.
McMillin had five passengers in his car, when he and Tines collided head-on. Police later determined Tines had purposely waited for McMillin’s car to come down the road, and intentionally drove into it. Authorities say this crash stemmed from earlier incidents involving McMillin and his passengers.
Police caught Tines about an hour after the wreck. He, McMillin, and three of his passengers were taken to the hospital.
Police arrested Tines on Thursday. Among his charges are six counts of menacing, six counts of assault, leaving the scene of an accident, and reckless driving.
He is lodged in the Simpson County Detention Center under a $25,000 cash bond.
