A crash on Dixie Highway late Friday night claimed the life of a 10 year-old girl.
Jefferson County Deputy Coroner Scott Russ said Brianna Fuller died of blunt force trauma.
Police say Fuller was riding with her father when their car was T-boned. Witnesses say the car that hit them was traveling at a very high rate of speed.
The crash was reported around 10:50 p.m. Friday in the 5200 block of Dixie Highway. Police say Fuller and her father were on their way to pick up a pizza when the collision occurred.
Fuller was thrown from the vehicle in the crash. Investigators believe she was not wearing a seat belt at the time of collision.
Her father was taken to University of Louisville Hospital for injuries that were not life-threatening. It is not clear if he was wearing a seat belt. The driver of the other vehicle also suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
The traffic unit of the Louisville Metro Police Department is handling the investigation.
The Commonwealth’s Attorney will review the case to determine if any charges will be filed.
