Officials say a Mount Vernon facility that digitizes military veterans’ records for the federal government plans to hire 600 people to handle a contract expansion.
SourceHOV plans to renovate a nearby 55,000-square-foot building once used by a uniform plant that closed in 2005.
Officials said it will take workers from several counties to fill the jobs. The new positions would more than double the company’s workforce.
Officials say the work SourceHOV employees do to convert paper records to digital format is important in helping veterans get benefits more quickly. Kentucky Governor Matt Bevin urged people at Friday’s announcement to spread the word about the jobs through social media.
Officials say the starting salary for the new jobs at SourceHOV is $10.52 an hour.
