
Reports of a “ransom” style scam are being reported by Warren County citizens.
The Warren Counts Sheriff’s Office said they have received numerous complaints about the scam, which involves a call from someone claiming to be with a warranty company asking for access to the potential victim’s computer.
Some of the reports said passwords to financial accounts had been compromised due to manipulation of the victim.
In some cases passwords were changed on victim’s computers after the scammers were granted access, with the scammers demanding money.
The Warren County Sheriff’s Office advises to never give out sensitive information like passwords, bank account information, etc.
