An Elizabethtown man is facing multiple charges, including attempted murder, after a domestic violence incident during which a woman was assaulted.
Elizabethtown officers were sent to the 500 block of College Street Road around 11:10 a.m. Sunday after a caller said a gun had been pointed at the head of a woman and a threat to kill her was made.
Responding officers found the 21 year old woman at the home along with her boyfriend, 40 year-old Robert Leon Williams. Police said the woman had visible injuries on her neck, shoulders and forearm.
According to police, the woman said she and Williams had been in an argument that turned physical and Williams had choked her twice, causing her to pass out both times. The victim told officers she jumped from a moving car on Westport Road because she feared for her life, but Williams stopped the car and dragged her back inside.
Police say the gun was pointed at the woman’s head and the threat to kill her was made after they returned to the home.
After obtaining a search warrant, officers found a 9mm handgun, along with marijuana and a substance believed to be cocaine.
Williams is being held at the Hardin County Detention Center on attempted murder – domestic violence, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, possession of a controlled substance and possession of marijuana. Bond was set at $75,000 cash and a court date set for July 1.
