
The Meade County School Board met for their regular monthly meeting Tuesday evening with all members present.
Superintendent Dr. John Millay advised the board bids for the construction of the Area Technology Center project will be published this week in the Meade County Messenger and The News-Enterprise. Bids will be opened August 4 and be ready for the board to review and possibly award the contract at the August 9 regular board meeting.
Three teachers from the district have received the Campbellsville State-wide Excellence in Teaching Award for the 2016 school year. Debbie Strubler of Payneville Elementary, Mary Lang of Stuart Pepper Middle School and Mark Crosslin of Meade County High School were the recipients of these awards.
After a brief discussion, the board voted to take bids for additional parking area to be constructed for the sports complex on the Stuart Pepper Middle School, David T. Wilson and the Meade County School Board Campus.
The board approved a bid of $72,384 from NIDA Corporation for the electrical class training equipment for the Area Technical Center and a bid of 25,320 from Graber Roofing & Construction for window trim repair at the James R. Allen building.
The board discussed and approved the superintendent evaluation for the 2015-2016 school year on seven points of leadership with an overall “Exemplary” rate of performance. Dr. Millay thanked the board for the vote of confidence and said he could not have done it without the help of many good people throughout the district. Everyone is looking forward to the upcoming 2016-2017 school year which begins Wednesday, August 10.
