An Elizabethtown woman has been charged with tampering with evidence involving her daughter’s murder case.
A Hardin County grand jury indicted 39-year-old Carmen C. Haitshan on one count of complicity to tampering with physical evidence. The felony carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison upon conviction.
Commonwealth’s Attorney Shane Young says Haitshan is accused of destroying some evidence related to the January 27 slaying of 22-year-old Windell Jones.
Four people have been charged in the slaying and robbery of Jones, including Haitshan’s 19-year-old daughter, Monti Lopez-Olivera. Another woman is still being sought.
Young says the five suspects allegedly were seeking money and drugs.
