
After his original plea was rejected by a federal judge, the man known as the Bogus Beggar reached another plea agreement Monday.
According to court documents, Gary Thompson pleaded guilty to defrauding the Social Security Administration and Medicaid by failing to report income and falsely misrepresenting his mental condition by slowing his speech and stuttering in order to receive benefits for nearly four years.
Thompson was sentenced to 42 months in prison. He will also have to pay $106,716.07 in restitution, $24,884.80 will go to the Social Security Administration and $81, 831.27 will go to the Kentucky Department for Medicaid Services.
