A former medical technician pleaded guilty on Friday to murdering a woman in his care in 2007.
David T. Satterfield, 36, admitted to intentionally injecting 86 year-old Marcelline Vale with insulin while she was in his care at Parkway Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Louisville. Vale was an Alzheimer’s patient at Parkway. He also told the court he injected two other patients with insulin who did not need the drug.
Satterfield was sentenced to 25 years in prison by Judge Judith McDonald-Burkman. He must serve at least 20 years of that sentence before being eligible for parole.
In 2014, Satterfield turned himself in to police, saying he had a terminal illness and wanted to clear his conscious.
