
One person is dead in a crash involving an ambulance and a passenger vehicle in southwest Louisville.
The crash happened near the intersection of Cane Run Road and Shanks Lane about 1:30 p.m. on Monday.
Louisville Metro Police Department spokesperson Dwight Mitchell said an ambulance carrying a patient was traveling north on Cane Run with its lights and sirens on and proceeded through a red light. The ambulance collided with and a SUV that was traveling west on Shanks Lane. The SUV then hit two other vehicles at the intersection.
The driver of the SUV was pronounced dead at the scene.
Three Louisville Metro EMS workers in the ambulance were taken to University of Louisville Hospital with minor injuries. The patient in the ambulance was not hurt.
