A Nelson County sheriff’s deputy has been arrested on domestic violence charges.
Brandon Scott Bryan, 34, of Bardstown, was charged with assault 4th degree (domestic violence) on October 23. His arrest report says Bryan and the victim have a child in common.
The Nelson County Sheriff’s Office said the incident began Sunday afternoon after the woman found the photo of another woman on Bryan’s cell phone. Bryan told his fellow deputies the woman wanted to leave their home and he grabbed her by the shoulders, setting her on the bed.
Bryan said after he went to the garage, the woman left, went to a neighboring home and called authorities.
The victim told deputies Bryan grabbed her by the shoulders and at one point put his hands on her neck. Deputies said the woman had small, visible injuries and stated this was not the first incident.
The victim is the sister of Crystal Rogers, a Bardstown mother who disappeared in July 2015 and is presumed dead.
Nelson County Sheriff Ed Mattingly said in a written statement released Monday, Bryan has been placed on unpaid administrative leave pending the outcome of an internal investigation. He has been with the agency since July 2014.
