A central Kentucky man charged with murder in the beating death of his father has reached a plea agreement to reduced charges.
Joseph M. Blan, 28, of Bonnieville, pleaded guilty to first-degree manslaughter and second-degree arson Tuesday in the November 2015 slaying of 54-year-old Carlus Blan.
Hardin County Coroner Dr. William Lee says the elder Blan was struck in the head and severely beaten. His body was found inside a burned mobile home near Big Clifty that his son was accused of setting on fire.
As part of the plea deal, Joseph Blan is receiving a 20-year sentence for each charge, which will run concurrently. He will not be eligible for parole until he serves 17 years. His formal sentencing is scheduled for December 13.
