
A traffic stop in London on Monday evening led police to confiscate close to 15 pounds of marijuana.
Around 8 p.m. Monday, Kentucky State Police stopped a green 2007 Chrysler 300 for speeding on I-75 near the 41 mile marker in Laurel County.
Officers observed cash and several pill bottles in the console of the vehicle. Those in the vehicle gave consent to search the vehicle and a K9 officer alerted other officers to the trunk, where officers found pressed marijuana weighing approximately 15 pounds and $7,828 in cash.
John W. Wells, 65, of Cincinnati, Ohio was arrested at the scene. Wells is charged with speeding, failure to signal lane change, no operator license, failure to produce insurance, and trafficking in marijuana over five pounds.
The passenger, 41 year-old Kevin E. Young of Cincinnati, was also arrested on two outstanding warrants and trafficking in marijuana over five pounds.
