Flames forced three families out of their homes around 3 a.m. on Christmas in the 1600 block of Northwestern Parkway in the Portland neighborhood.
About 25 firefighters responded helping all occupants to escape without injury.
A neighbor opened his home to all the fire victims while the firefighters got the fire under control.
Louisville Fire is still working to determine what caused the fire. Red Cross provided immediate temporary housing for the families.
