The Bee Springs Post Office was robbed at gunpoint around 9:30 Saturday (1/21) morning.
The Edmonson County Sheriff’s Department says the female employee was exiting a side door with a mail cart, when the suspect pointed a semi-automatic pistol at her. shoved her into a bathroom and told her to not come out or he would kill her.
The suspect took cash out of the employee’s wallet, cash out of the drawer, which include all the bills and quarter rolls. The Sheriff’s Department says $2,000 worth of postage stamps are missing, along with some money orders.
The suspect is described as a white male, in his late 20’s, around 6 feet tall and weighs about 200 pounds, with short brown hair. He was wearing a black hat, sunglasses and a black jacket that was zipped all the way up to his neck.
Investigators believe the suspect is familiar with a routine of the workers because the office was not open long before it was robbed.
The Sheriff’s Department are looking for a vehicle that is possibly connected to the crime. Employees saw a late 90’s or early 2000’s maroon Ford Panel Van parked at the post office for three days on and off. The driver of the vehicle never got out of the van.
A U.S. Postal Inspector is assisting in the investigation. The sheriff’s department says there could possibly be federal charges.
Anyone with information is asked to call The Edmonson County Sheriff’s Department at 270-597-2729.
