
Muldraugh City Council met for their regular monthly meeting Monday evening with all members present.
Councilman Russell Cowins made a motion the add the water buffalo to the list of surplus items for sale by the police department. The council voted to add the large water tank to the list that was approved last month. That list consist of a 2012 Chevrolet Caprice, 2004 cargo truck, 2004 dump truck, electric fork lift, 3 generators, floor polisher, floor buffer and portable tent. The proceeds from these surplus items will be used toward the purchase of another SUV.
Assistant Fire Chief Anthony Lee reported several from the department had attended a countywide grain bin rescue training last month and a live fire exercise is planned for April 29. He also advised a commercial trailer had been obtained from the Flaherty Fire Department that can be used for a mobile command post in case of an emergency.
Councilman Cory Dresel thanked the Meade County Fiscal Court and Meade County Solid Waste for the use of two 40 cubic yard dumpsters, at no cost to the city, to be used at the city-wide clean-up days scheduled for April 24-29 at 118 South Main Street (in the fenced in lot behind the fire house). Muldraugh citizens is encouraged to bring their junk items for 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. each day during that week. All items are accepted except for hazardous material such as: tires, batteries, shingles, items with refrigerant and paint. The site will be monitored to assure no prohibited items are disposed of in the dumpsters. This is for the citizens of Muldraugh only. For more information, call 502-942-2824.
Councilman Robert Mattingly advised the council the rabies vaccination clinic is still tentatively scheduled for May 20 from 9 a.m. until Noon at the fire house. This will be free to the citizens of Muldraugh on a first come, first served basis with approximately 75 vaccines available. There are some insurance legalities to be worked out before the clinic can be held.
Annie Hamilton from United Way gave a brief overview of service offered by the new 2-1-1 service in the 5 county area that includes Meade, Hardin, Breckinridge, Grayson and Larue. This is a free confidential referral and information helpline available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Anyone in need of non-emergency help can call 2-1-1 or go to www.unitedwayck.org.
Councilman Russell Cowins thanked everyone that participated and made the Easter egg hunt a success and announced there will be a Fish Fry this Friday, April 13, starting at 11 a.m. The kids meal will cost $5 and adults $9. The proceeds will go toward the rides for the children during Muldraugh Days in the fall.
Councilman Robert Mattingly made a motion, and the council unanimously approved, to set aside $1,000 to be used to purchase the wood and bolts for 17 benches at the Disc Golf course. These proceeds will be taken from the parks and recreation funds.
