Police in Hardin County are trying to locate a 17-year-old boy who they said accidentally shot and wounded a 13-year-old acquaintance Saturday night.
Family members identified the victim as Jordan Wilson, a 7th grade student at Bluegrass Middle School.
Wilson and witnesses told Radcliff police the older boy was showing off a gun outside the Wilson’s home when it discharged. A bullet hit Wilson in the lower abdomen, according to police.
They said the boy who fired the gun got scared and ran away; police have not been able to locate him. They are not naming the 17-year-old because he’s a minor.
Wilson is recovering at Norton Children’s Hospital and could be release from the hospital soon.
Police will determine whether to file charges when they know more about what happened.
