
Three people were injured Wednesday morning after a truck struck the rear of a buggy in Larue County.
According to Kentucky State Police, a 2000 GMC Sierra, driven by 38 year-old Jerry Whitehead, was traveling North in the 12,000 block of South Dixie near Sonora when it struck the rear of an Amish buggy, also traveling North.
Upon impact, 33 year-old Joe Gingerich, his 6 year-old daughter and 9 year-old son were ejected from the buggy.
Joe Gingerich and his daughter were transported to Hardin Memorial Hospital with minor injuries. His 9 year old son was taken to Nortons Children’s Hospital where he is listed in stable condition.
The Gingerich’s horse was euthanized at the scene.
Kentucky State Police was assisted at the scene by Hardin County EMS, Sonora Fire Department and the Hardin County Sheriff’s Department.
The accident is under investigation by the Kentucky State Police.
