Hardin Memorial Health and Elizabethtown Technical and Community College are extending their partnership for nurse training.
Through a new program announced Wednesday, Hardin Memorial will cover the cost of tuition and books while paying for full-time work.
This new opportunity is for Hardin Memorial employees who do not have any prior nursing licenses or certifications. The hospital is paying the tuition for up to eight employees per school year.
Leaders from the hospital and college signed a memorandum of agreement at the hospital Wednesday
Other partnerships with Western Kentucky and McKendree University have focused on helping those who are nurses become registered nurses. This partnership is open to any Hardin Memorial employee.
Myra Covault, HMH vice president and chief human resources officer, said these programs help the hospital to stay ahead of the nursing shortage.
For the college, the partnership will help increase enrollment while meeting the needs of the community.
