
Muldraugh City Council met Monday evening for their regular monthly meeting with all council members present.
Police Chief Dale Harp informed the council Officer Tim Childs has eight more weeks of training before graduating from the police academy in Frankfort. Chief Harp also said he is in the process of applying for a grant that would pay the salary of additional officer for three years with the stipulations the city keep that officer for an additional year. This would allow the city to employ four police officers.
Assistant Fire Chief Anthony Lee reported the department raised just over $4,200 for the Crusade for Children this year and the department is already planning fund raising activities for next year. Those activities will include possibly four raffles throughout the year.
Public Works Supervisor Anthony Lee advised the concrete pad for the new E911 generator is expected to be poured this week, weather permitting. The department continues to work on the sewer and street projects.
Mayor Joseph Noon advised the council two bids were received for the repairs of the freezer in City Hall. The Lusk Group submitted a bid of $10,284 and Home Comfort USA submitted a bid of $6,800. After a brief discussion the council unanimously voted to table the decision until a later time.
Councilman Robert Mattingly informed the council the rabies vaccination clinic that had been planned for July 22 has been postponed due to the unavailability of a veterinarian. Mattingly said the clinic is still a possibility but it would be on a latter date yet to be determined.
The council unanimously voted to reject the proposal from Crown Castle to buy the two cell tower site leases and to keep the leases as they are.
The City had advertised in the local newspaper seeking bids for a new police vehicle. Mayor Noon advised only one bid was received and it was from Knox Ford in Radcliff. After opening the bid and a brief discussion, the council voted to purchase a new police vehicle from Knox Ford for the sum of $27,972. The funds for the new vehicle was raised by the sale of surplus items belonging to the police department.
The council unanimously voted to purchase body armor for two police officers with money from a grant through the Office of Homeland Security. The armor will be purchased through T-Box Tactical at $695 each.
