A Kentucky woman accused of fatally shooting her boyfriend is under investigation after submitting an allegedly forged petition for a change of venue.
Shayna Hubers had submitted 156 affidavits signed by residents supporting a venue change Tuesday. Hubers was convicted of killing her boyfriend, Ryan Poston, in 2015, but the conviction was overturned when one of the jurors was found to be a convicted felon. A new trial was to start next year.
Campbell County prosecutor Michelle Snodgrass filed a motion Wednesday saying 118 signatures were forged. The notary for 122 signatures, Brittany Young, told Highland Heights Police Chief William Birkenhauer she forged 119 signatures.
Huber’s attorneys David Eldridge and Jeff Lawson said they were unaware of the forgeries, and will withdraw the venue change motion.
