A wanted person from Glasgow has been arrested in Alabama.
According to the Barren County Sheriff’s Department, Spencer Huddleston’ last known location was at Barren River Lake as a possible drowning/disappearance. The sheriff’s department never found Huddleston and entered him as a missing person.
He was also entered as “Wanted” on local charges of arson, persistent felony offender, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of Marijuana.
Eight months ago, his vehicle was located near a bridge on Barren River Lake and it appeared he had been camping and fishing. Shoes were found nearby and one of the shoes was floating in the water, so it was investigated as a possible drowning at that point, according to the Barren County Sheriff’s Department.
But when officials never found a body, they started thinking this was a disappearance instead of a drowning, so he was considered missing.
The sheriff’s office has been investigating and searching for Huddleston since last October, but until this week, they say the leads weren’t taking them very far.
On Tuesday, the sheriff’s department was contacted by law enforcement in Alabama in reference to the arrest of Huddleston. The Baldwin County Sheriff’s Department says they tried to pull Huddleston over for a traffic infraction, when Huddleston accelerated and was able to lose the deputy.
Houchens went on to say, “He [Huddleston] had alluded them and apparently abandoned the vehicle in a neighborhood. By the use of K-9s they were able to locate him behind an abandoned house and take him into custody.”
He was arrested for attempting to elude and several traffic offenses.
An extradition hearing will be held at a later date to decide when Huddleston will be brought back to Barren County to face charges.
