
A single vehicle accident in Meade County claimed the life of a Irvington woman Wednesday (9/13) night.
According to the Meade County Sheriff’s Department, the accident happened around 9:45 pm along Bethel Church Road near Brandenburg. Debra Veeneman, 53 of Irvington, was operating a 1989 Chevrolet truck north bound on Bethel Church Road. For unknown reasons Veeneman ran off the edge of the roadway multiple times for approximately 500 feet before striking a tree.
Both Veeneman and a passenger, 58 year-old Laurie Durbin of Webster were trapped inside the truck after striking the tree. Both occupants were freed from the vehicle by emergency personnel at the scene. Durbin was taken to University Louisville Hospital by Meade County EMS.
The Meade County Sheriffs Department was assisted at the scene by Meade County Fire Department.
