A Ekron teenager was killed as a result of a two vehicle accident in Meade County Thursday (9/28) night.
According to the Meade County Sheriffs Department, the accident happened around 8:45 pm on Kentucky 313 near Doe Run-Ekron Road, when a 1994 Ford passenger car driven by 18 year-old Christopher Ashford of Ekron was traveling north in the middle of the roadway. Ashford attempted to get his car back into the northbound lane and overcorrected causing him to lose control of the vehicle and went into a sideway slide into the southbound lane.
A southbound 2011 Chrysler van driven by 35 year-old Krystal Williams of Magnolia, saw the Ashford’s car and attempted to avoid it by pulling onto the southbound shoulder of the road. Ashford’s car struck the front of Williams’s van causing Ashford to be partially ejected from his vehicle. Ashford was pronounced dead at the scene by the Meade Coroner. Williams was taken to the hospital by Meade County EMS for non life threatening injuries.
The Meade County Sheriffs Department was assisted at the scene by the Meade County Fire Department as the roadway was closed several hours for the investigation of the accident which remains ongoing.
