A Paducah man is facing multiple charges after leading authorities on a pursuit through Grayson and Breckinridge Counties last week.
Grayson County deputies attempted to stop a truck accused of reckless driving near the Caneyville exit of the Western Kentucky Parkway just after 4 pm Thursday (3/8), but driver Eric Howard of Paducah refused to comply with deputy’s orders and took off along Highway 79 through Caneyville and Short Creek into Breckinridge County at speeds between 45 and 75 miles per hour.
Spike strips deployed by Breckinridge County Sheriff Todd Pate on the north side of the Rough River Dam caused the driver’s side tires of Howard’s vehicle to deflate and eventually come off the wheel. Howard surrendered a short time later without incident.
The 29 year-old Howard was lodged in the Grayson County Detention Center on charges of fleeing and evading police, driving under the influence, wanton endangerment and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon among other counts.
Police said the truck Howard was driving was stolen from Louisville.
