Kentucky State Police Post 4 responded to a fatality of a Hardin County Deputy Sheriff involving an ATV in Hardin County Friday evening.
The investigation revealed that 36 year-old Kevin Johnson, of Elizabethtown, was operating an ATV near the 100 block of Lincoln Avenue around 8 p.m., when he lost control of the ATV and ran off the roadway and struck a fence.
Johnson was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Hardin County Coroner’s Office.
A 7 year old passenger on the ATV was flown to Norton Children’s Hospital in Louisville with life threatening injuries.
Kentucky State Police was assisted at the scene by the Hardin County Sheriff’s Office, Hardin County EMS and the Hardin County Coroner’s Office.
The investigation is ongoing by the Kentucky State Police.
