A Kentucky State Police trooper shot and a killed a man, who authorities say pulled out a gun after a bizarre series of events.
State Police said around 4:30 pm Monday (3/19) afternoon Kentucky State Police and the Daviess County Sheriff’s Department responded to a report of a person doing donuts in a field in southern Daviess County. When they arrived they found an abandoned black Jeep Cherokee. Authorities were told the driver ran into a nearby house that wasn’t his. Police searched the house and the male suspect ran back to the jeep and drove off.
Authorities gave pursuit but the suspect crashed and got out and started running. The suspect pulled out a gun and refused to drop the gun resulting at the demand of the trooper. The trooper then shot the man who later died of his injury at the hospital.
The man did not have identification and the Jeep was stolen from Lexington. The identities of the trooper and suspect are being withheld by police. The investigation remains ongoing in the case.
