The newly elected class of county and city officials took their oath of office on Sunday (1/6) afternoon during a formal ceremony.
Circuit Judge Bruce Butler conducted the ceremony as he administered the oath of office to local leaders. The ceremony included the offices of Meade County Judge Executive, County Attorney, Clerk, Circuit Clerk, Magistrates, Sheriff, Jailer, Coroner, and Surveyor. The city council and mayors were already administered due the end of the calendar year. County leaders and Circuit Court seats take their offices on the first Monday of January.
As a order of new business, members of Meade County Fiscal Court held a special called meeting Monday (1/7) morning to appoint the department leaders and setup other day to day matters to conduct county business.
