Local fire departments worked the several weekends to collect $5.7 million for the Crusade For Children during the 66th annual telethon.
In Meade County, totals collected were just over $42,000. The announced department totals were:
Flaherty Fire Department: $17,776.38
Payneville Fire Department: $11,118.03
Ekron Fire Department: $8,774.56
Meade County Fire Protection District: $4,290.07
In Breckinridge County, fire departments collected nearly $72,802.85. Totals by department were:
Harned- $30,013.13
Hardinsburg- $27,133.00
Irvington- $4,577.77
McDaniels- $4,576.78
Webster- $4,000.00
Custer- $2,502.17
The money collected will be used for the needs for equipment or supplies for special needs children across Central Kentucky and Southern Indiana.
